Waiting, waiting,...

waiting at the airport, and this place is packed!

We're on our way...

to the airport for the much needed vacation time. True, it's only four days of no work but it will be my longest break in twenty months. And I certainly need it.

I'll be making a trip...

this Friday to my girlfriend's hometown and I must say, I'm really looking forward to the time off. It will be the second day of actual vacation (Friday) in twenty months and I hope the weekend crawls along at a snail's pace. What will be doing? Who knows. She's from a small town so just being away from the booming metropolis will be a treat. And yes, I will be fully connected through a plethora of devices. I haven't fully decided, but I'm pretty sure I'll be taking the MBP as well. After all, four days with no Mac... I don't think so. I'll post pics of the trip and various happenings so don't wander off too far.

I came across...

this story on Boing Boing and was a bit bothered with myself for never really thinking about this. Especially, since I've wanted to be a pilot since I was about 7 years old. Not to mention the fact a really good friend of mine is a corporate pilot and I just never thought of asking about this "corpse locker." I'm incredibly intrigued and need to interrogate my friend. Stay tuned...

Today we make...

our trek back to the good ol' home city from Minneapolis. Oddly enough, I'm watching a few flurries grace the sky as I gaze out the window... where was this all week? I feel like I let this site down primarily because I haven't really taken any pictures the whole trip. I left my vid cam and dig cam at home; sure I could use my phone but it seems 1 megapixel just isn't enough for an ol' chap to make use of anymore.

What in the world...

is going on?! We’re in Minneapolis now and still no major snow. There’s a bit of ice here and there, but still no serious white loveliness. The past several years have always yielded plenty of snow but not this one. In fact, I believe the city has only received about 2-3 inches for the year, placing it way below its annual average. Go figure.

We are driving...

today so naturally I’m doing this posting from my phone. Unfortunately, arriving in Kansas I’ve yet to see any real snow or ice. Sure it’s cold, but I came for some classic winter action; not just cold air.

On xmas eve...

my family and I will begin our annual (or at least for the past several years) trip to Minnesota to actually enjoy some good ol' snow times with a brief stop off in Missouri to visit some family whom have migrated from overseas.  I'll probably post from out of town as well as grab a few pictures; hopefully the drive portion will prove uneventful, which of course are the best kind of road trips.

I realize my pics...

are several days late in terms of making it to this site but I tried to pick out the most visually interesting ones for the masses; they can be found in my Banff photo album. I haven't applied any captions to the photos yet, with the exception of one, but I may add some later. The most difficult aspect is definitely choosing photos to upload because no photo, at least from my crop, can convey the absolute magnificence of the location or the vastness of the mountains. Oh well, what's done is done so hopefully you folks will enjoy. I'll hopefully have the opportunity to return for some winter time skiing but I suppose I'll have to see how all the other life-factors play out. Nonetheless, check them out and take a visit to the pretty city on your next vacation.
