When the girl...

at Starbucks notices your haircut you either go way too often or it was simply getting way too long. Neither option seems very appealing.

Just went in...

for my one week post op check-up: both eyes are between 20/15 and 20/12. Apparently, I got three out of five letters correct on the 20/12 line. I don't think I could be any more pleased.

Got the drops,...

got the drugs, and now just waiting to go in. I have to turn the phone off now so no more updates until after they're finished. They don't want the phone's frequencies even remotely causing the slightest possibility of interference with the machinery... and I'm not going to argue.

Day of surgery...

and I've arrived on scene. Plan of events are as follows:

-Turn in waiver (sign your eyes away!).
-Pay (they want their money and who can blame them?!).
-Watch a short video about the process.
-Go back to meet the doc, get the valium and numbing drops, and then wait for the name to be called.
-Lie down on the chair and let the lasering begin!.

Not even a full week...

has passed and I'm a bit sick of wearing my glasses. Two weeks left -- oh joy.

Bit of a sad day...

Today is the final day I will ever wear contacts again -- or so I hope. The surgery is planned for December 21 and I don't intend on ever putting little round thingies (technical term) onto my eyeballs anymore. I received my first pair of glasses when I was ten and started wearing contacts when I was thirteen, and while it hasn't been a huge chore, it has been a necessary evil of daily life. Glasses for three weeks straight? I'll figure a way to manage.

It's amazing...

how you can revisit a venue under different circumstances and the place can look completely different and virtually unrecognizable unless you think back to said previous circumstances. I'm sitting in a Starbucks right now and the only other times I've been here is the day of the Turkey Trot when the joint is filled to overflowing capacity with runners. Now, there are only six of us and the atmosphere has entirely changed.

The only time...

getting up at 440am is remotely enjoyable is when you have a race, a vacation, or something else exciting to take your mind off the fact you're waking at an obnoxious and obscene hour. I need more coffee.

Sure it's not...

that cold at 55 degrees F, but at 515am the seat heaters come in handy.

Last night...

while I was hanging out with the gfriend I received a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. Now, normally if a call comes in and I don't know the number, I don't answer the phone. However, for whatever reason I did answer it and much to my surprise it was my best friend from junior high and high school. How did he get my number? Well, about six weeks ago I was out with the gfriend and her sister and I happened to come across his older brother, his fiance, and some of their friends (he wasn't there due to work or something). I gave his fiance my number and asked her to pass it along, explaining I was an old friend from school. I never heard anything and figured she lost the number, he didn't want to call, or simply the past was the past - no harm no foul. You can see my pleasant surprise upon receiving the call from about the only person I care to talk to since graduation... Odd, seeing how I haven't even spoken to him since graduation. Nonetheless, it was great to hear from him and we plan on getting together some time soon to catch-up and provide proper introductions to each other's SO.
