that you're driving a well-kept BMW and yet you're asking me if you can borrow a dollar to fill up because all you have is $0.75?! And then you're going to yell at me and criticize me for not helping you?
Don't you realize there's a discrepancy in the vehicle you're driving and the fact you have to ASK FOR A DOLLAR?

By Germany against Sweden in the first twelve minutes certainly places Sweden in a tough spot. Off to work so hopefully I can avoid the score until I can come back and finish later this afternoon.

I've been watching...

the FIFA World Cup incessantly for the past week-plus and have failed to post... well, because I've been watching all the games to be honest. Truthfully, I've missed two games total but have really done my best to catch everything I can... and this is why you have a DVR! I've been watching the U.S. vs. Ghana game this morning in which the U.S. must win.

U.S. is down 2-1 with 5 minutes left. Not looking good at all.

U.S. just lost 2-1 and I must say Ghana has played very well through their first three games and they absolutely deserve this opportunity to play in the Round of 16 in their first-ever World Cup.

This is why the World Cup is so important: It comes once every FOUR years and you cannot take any of the Group Play games lightly because every game counts. Team need to attack and attack strong early on because there's no guarantee you'll have any chance of continued play by your third game.

I certainly wanted the U.S. to move forward, but I have a hard time saying they deserve to move on. Putting aside any debate on officiating for any of the games, I honestly don't believe the U.S. played well enough in any of their matches to deserve the right to play with the other teams in the next round. It's unfortunate for sure to not play on, but credit needs to be given where credit is deserved and I applaud Ghana for playing well.

This whole "portable gaming" thing...

has me rather interested in the Sony PSP. I don't do too much gaming in general, typically reserving my play time for very few titles with no first-person shooters or war games to date, but I love some of the FIFA games... and the PSP may do well for me on that front. I'm also intrigued by the multimedia functionality with the emphasis on video conversion to take advantage of the gorgeous screen. I'll have to think this over for a few days... of course, I'm not helped by the Best Buy gift card I have staring at me.

My new...

Nintendo DS Lite arrived Thursday. Great little device with a real nice form factor: Small, light, and feels comfortable in the hands. I also grabbed some highly recommended games with Brain Age, Brain Academy, Polarium, New Super Mario Bros., and the not highly recommended but decent game - FIFA Street 2. The games load incredibly quickly and all maintain a playful look but still challenging feel. I'm not sure how big I'll grow my library but these games make the purchase well worth it.

Right, so everyone knows...

about your typical 3-prong AC adapter plug that inserts into a standard U.S. wall outlet. Well, a word of advice: Do your best not to drop the metallic prong (any of three) onto your toe (any of the ten)... it really hurts. The girlfriend can attest to this little snippet of wisdom because she experienced the exact same painful piece of electrical hardware life... only she got the blood! And I gotta tell ya, for this kind of pain I think I deserve a little blood, too!

I finished...

a full install of my Encyclopedia Britannica when my disc drive decided it would like to attempt ejecting the disc but not quite comply with my actual request. I could hear the drive making the necessary "noises" attributed with ejection but the disc just wouldn't appear. I went through the listed steps found in this article and then became aware the load/eject mechanism is apparently electrical and not mechanical. Resetting the PMU did the trick and all is well... though I am interested as to what causes this glitch.

I just finished...

installing parallels on the MacBook Pro -- very easy installation I must say. I also just finished performing the updates for WinXP so we'll see how it goes. So far I haven't done anything major and don't particularly plan on using XP too much... this is more for experimental purposes and staying on top of the Windows world for the various tech support I so routinely offer to friends (family is all on Macs). I'm pretty sure having 2 gigs of ram in the Pro doesn't exactly hurt either. Here's a nice screen grab of the update process.

I just picked up...

the somewhat new Superman energy drink from SoBe and I must say, it is an interesting taste. I kinda enjoy the momentary burning sensation at the back of the throat immediately following swallowing!

The MacBook is running...

like a champ so far and I'm rather intrigued by this parallels product. I'm not sure if I'd actually install windows as an additional OS or use the new Dapper Drake from ubuntu. May give it a shot this weekend.
