since I've posted but my absence has more to do with my current disgust for world events than anything else. I'm still trying to understand how people can be so incredibly blind, incredulous, and brainwashed when it comes to the simple facts of society. Let me give you an example: I was speaking with an individual the other day about current oil prices. She was saying how she's having to pay more for gas (as we all are) and how we need to get more from other countries (her dad works for an oil company). I said, "So you think it's ok for us to go into other countries and take advantage of them to the point of poverty just so we can have their oil?" She responds with, "Yes, this country runs on oil and we need it. Otherwise people can't go to work and this economy will stop." I replied, "That may be true but what happens when we run out? Are we supposed to wait until then before we actually devote any time and resources to other fuel technologies? Should we wait until gas is $20 a gallon so people can't even afford to buy gas, thus inhibiting them from traveling to work which also brings this economy to a standstill? In that scenario the only people who benefit are the oil executives, not the rest of the people who do their part for the world economy." Her response, "Well, maybe we shouldn't wait that long but we still need it." Me: "Needing is one thing. Taking advantage of others for personal gain is not right no matter what political, economical, or societal spin you put on it. Whatever happened to humanity and living in a benevolent humane society?" She had nothing. I've just about had it with the multitude of people wearing blinders for a living. Ignorance implies simply not knowing. Stupidity implies not wanting to know. My friends, we have reached the realm of stupidity.
