Pajamation

Up until this point...

I don't believe I've commented too much on the various happenings at my current employment. The details are not particularly necessary but I will say that we have a satellite radio feed for all to enjoy. Today, a regular contributor to the asinine news network made a comment to me and someone I was conversing with after he decided to listen-in on our conversation. Never mind the fact the comment was unnecessary, unfounded, and unoriginal, but he actually thought it would be funny. My response was naturally cordial while being laced with a certain sense of confrontation. Normally, I let this individual run his mouth (sadly, he's not exactly known for being the most reliable source for information), but this time he knowingly involved himself in dialogue that was clearly labeled as "do not disturb." Needless to say, if I didn't respect this guy prior to this encounter I certainly don't now! I have tried incessantly to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he continues to dumbfound me at how ridiculous his behavior can truly be. Quite honestly, it's a wonderful piece of cyclical amusement for me as I abstractly glide through the daily goings. As noted in a previous post finding your societal clowns are immensely important in balancing rational insanity and ambiguous verisimilitude.

I was online...

the other night and decided to actually login with Fire, something I have not done, at least regularly, in quite a long time. Upon login, I noticed someone whom I had not spoken with in almost two years, thus the debate began. Do I or don't I drop this person a quick message to say hello? Over the course of about 2 months the two of us hung out quite a bit and continued our communication even after she moved -- but after awhile the exchange died down and now almost 24 months have passed. It's a bit odd when you speak to someone so regularly and then you go to nothing. Do you have to justify or even offer up an explanation why you didn't carry on the discourse or can you simply jump back in where you left off -- naturally allowing for catch-up of course. I deliberated for about 5.2 seconds before deciding to go ahead with my hello strategy. Oddly enough, my 5.2 seconds were about 5.2 too long because as soon as I sent it I lost my broadband signal; it didn't return for roughly an hour and she was already offline by that point. The real question is whether my transmission went through and whether I should proceed with an email to say hello -- and actually receive a response this time!

I believe I have...

figured out why my professor reacts to students asking questions in the manner that he does. I suppose I should first explain: I initially mentioned my prof's interesting behavior most specifically his rolling-of-the-eyes in response to someone asking a question. Actually, in all fairness he reserves his eye dancing for individuals who ask more than one question during a single class -- go figure. Anyhow, in setting up an educational story he offered a bit of anecdotal evidence that he was/is an only child, doesn't have any children of his own, and has little experience with children in general. Granted, being an only child does not relegate someone to being a buffoon with kids, but more times than not a person will exhibit certain tendencies representative of his/her lack of youthful encounters (however, I have a close friend whom is wonderful with kids and yet is an only child). Needless to say, I'm thinking this is a strong contributing factor to his modest inability in relating with persons attempting to grasp new topics; much like a child has new experiences and walks through the "why" phase. You know what I'm talking about: "Why is the sky blue?"; "Why can't I breathe underwater?"; "Why does Mommy look so different in the morning?"; "Why does Daddy always mess things up?"; "Why do you wear blue shoes with a black tux-ADO?!" -- you know, the usual questions that burn from within. Having children around (we could assume he/she had friends of the same age, but I'm not taking anything for granted) would logically imply a natural interaction with inquisitive minds venturing into the "why" arena; teaching in the scientific education field would appear to be no different, but I suppose there is more to this story than I am currently aware. Politics has never been...

one of my desires for subject matter in relation to this site, which is why I rarely, if ever, venture near the thought of writing related ideas. However, in the generalization of societal structure politics do play their respective part when the debates of thought, both old and new, begin to take form. All that to say, the green pass has an accurate article observing the stereotypical dispositions of American and British folk. Although the site is primarily politically related I feel the article is aimed more at society in general and therefore deserves a wider audience base of attention.

Aside: Personally, I detest the childish and unintelligible nature most people discuss politics simply because these same individuals are generally ignorant on the very subject matter(s) of which they speak. Actually, let me rephrase: They are not ignorant but more than likely stupid -- stupid because they don't want to know the truth, ignorant if they simply didn't know but wanted to know the truth. One is acceptable, the other is inexcusable. All of us are ignorant on some if not many subjects but our desire to learn, experience, and know more about those select subjects are intangible qualities that cannot be taught. Stupidity is taught and bread, ignorance is recognized and overcome.

Last night...

I finally went to see Garden State and it is (to quote a friend of mine -- hope I get this right) hella-excellent! The story is superb and holds so many themes that just about anyone can relate. I won't discuss the story here but I already ordered the soundtrack and anticipate it's arrival in the next couple days. If you still haven't ventured to Zach Braff's blog for the movie you need to seriously examine your thought process. It's very amusing and actually shows how many people are truly enjoying the film. Do yourself a favor -- go see it and enjoy life. Yesterday already passed and you only get one shot at today.

I stopped by the local...

gas station today to fill up my transportation apparatus, pick up a tasty beverage and see the familiar face who normally rings up my sale whenever I visit. I've become decently acquainted with this individual over the past several months, though we certainly have never moved past the normal small talk, and would more than likely provide a cordial hello if a non-car-filling-beverage-buying encounter ever happened. Anyhow, as I was paying for my purchase she was asking me what the drink tastes like and instead of indicating the ever-present drink I was purchasing she decided to nicely place her dirty finger right on the mouth portion of the can. I say dirty because she was wearing one of those rubber thimble gizmos that aids in counting bills rather than repeatedly licking one's finger to establish a sticky enough surface to pull two non cooperating pieces of tender away from each other. Why is that? If she knows I'll be putting my mouth on that exact place on the can, why plant your finger right on it? I suppose it's no different than when you have a nice discolored piece of flesh, or bruise as we may call it, and someone walks up saying, "What happened? Does that hurt?", as they happily apply unnecessary pressure and watch you jump back, writhing in pain! To be honest, the whole thing is kind of funny simply because it happens so often. I remember when I use to bleach my hair completely white, go to work or class the next day, and have some brilliant person ask, "What'd you do?" or "Why'd you do that?" Well, to tackle the first doozy of a question: I bleached my hair (thought that was evident by the lack of color), and second: just because. NEXT QUESTION PLEASE! COME ON PEOPLE, KEEP THEM COMING. I CAN HANDLE IT! DON'T LET THE WHITE HAIR FOOL YA!! People are funny; especially when they absolutely don't mean to be so. Also similar is two weeks ago when I strolled into work with an obvious haircut under my belt, only to hear, "Did you cut your hair?" Nope, I'm so malnourished all the strands decided to break off at the exact same length. Pretty impressive, huh? You should see me after a good meal! I can do things only a circus animal would dream of attempting!! Anyone else out there enjoy the general public as much as I do? It's the subtle humor of daily life that keeps me loving commonplace interactions with unsuspecting clowns of society!

are several days late in terms of making it to this site but I tried to pick out the most visually interesting ones for the masses; they can be found in my Banff photo album. I haven't applied any captions to the photos yet, with the exception of one, but I may add some later. The most difficult aspect is definitely choosing photos to upload because no photo, at least from my crop, can convey the absolute magnificence of the location or the vastness of the mountains. Oh well, what's done is done so hopefully you folks will enjoy. I'll hopefully have the opportunity to return for some winter time skiing but I suppose I'll have to see how all the other life-factors play out. Nonetheless, check them out and take a visit to the pretty city on your next vacation.

As noted by previous posts...

I was out of town for the majority of last week and have just returned for my first week of class. From what I can gather I didn't really miss much, at least nothing that can't be easily absorbed from a quick look-through, but my main concern so far is professor compatibility (my past four professors for the various science courses I've enrolled in have been better than I could have expected). I mention this concern based upon, though probably premature from what I now believe, a response I received when I respectfully asked for any handouts/information I may have missed during my absence the previous week. The professor responded with a roll of the eyes and a "I gave those out last week" response. This is true, the prof did give them out last week, but I had just finished telling him/her that I was not present last week. Fast forward a couple days and I now arrive at why I believe my original assessment was prematurely unfair and inaccurate. I once again asked for the necessary handouts and I received them without delay or eye rolling. In addition, I asked if there were any papers I needed to fill out to help him track my presence (yes, he does in fact take attendance and will drop you after 7 hours missed). Apparently, he/she didn't even realize I missed all I had actually missed. He/She also has a goofy sense of humor, which I appreciate, and is rather detail oriented (example: he/she actually erases all the markings off the board -- I never understood how people could erase a board but leave bits and pieces of marker/chalk straggling about... but I'm just weird of course). We also had a bit of a bonding moment when he/she asked where I was last week and was pleasantly surprised to be informed of my Canada destination, thus sparking positive communication. Moral of the story: You never know what someone's dealing with on any particular day so always gather additional information before sending someone to their grave. Now, don't get me wrong -- I'm not quite ready to have the prof housesit for me, but maybe I'll let him/her buy me a soft drink.
