whether writing this post is absolutely necessary... especially when considering the audience for such words. I realize the individuals frequenting these pages are certainly of the more technical mind and am in no way attempting to assume any reader’s lack of knowledge on the following subject, but I thought a more detailed understanding may prove beneficial for those regularly questioned regarding the so-called speeds of today’s computing. Now, I am certainly not to write an analysis of x86 and PowerPC systems but would rather give stage to an exceptional article regarding such a study. As many know, I utilize both major systems, spending 85%-90% of my time on an iBook, but such a lopsided Mac victory was not always the case. I only began truly making use of Macs when I was at school and repeatedly found myself staring at a full computer lab with all Windows based systems occupied; the Macs of course left open and unmolested by the ignorant masses. I say ignorant because apparently few are willing to try out an unknown OS and see what it has to offer. While Macs always tweaked my interest I never had a prime opportunity to experiment (and no, the Apple IIe of yesteryear does not count). Granted, those pressed for time and frantically writing papers due next class receive an exempt status, but what of those who simply checked email, perused the web, and fed their addiction to IM? I hopped on primarily due to impatience (I surely was not about to travel all the way home to merely use a familiar system), and of course, I also wanted to play. Fast forward: I have two Macs and one Windows machine. 99% of the people I speak with who use and understand both systems will respond with favor towards the Mac – but there’s still that one person who just does not get it… or they are doing something wrong. Needless to say that one person has now posted his/her thoughts on being “seduced” by the whole Switch Campaign. Sadly, this individual writes a piece full of fallacy and I am in no mood to clarify any of the numerous mistakes… if you have questions in regards to which ones just ask your local Mac aficionado. It seems ignorance does not only support our fearful attitudes in society but also metastasizes to other areas – not exactly a true capitalistic economy.
